The predecessor of Tianma Automobile Group Co., Ltd. is an automobile refitting Factory directly controlled by air force of 87491 unit in People's Liberation Army. It was Established in the 1980s, and later reorganized as the factory No.9506 of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. After the enterprise directly controlled by the military was transferred to the local government, its name was changed to Baoding Tianma Automobile Factory. In 2002, the factory was reformed into a limited company according to the law of enterprise. On July 8, 2005, the National Industry and commerce Administration Bureau approved that the name was changed from Tianma Automobile Co., Ltd. to Tianma Automobile Group Co., Ltd. and Tianma Automobile Group was established. On October 27, 2005, the reform was approved by the National development and reform committee.
